SETTING
NOTE: This is a feral roleplay. And whilst all previous information on canora habitats being true, this particular roleplay for the group will take place in a specific location. You are free to roleplay 1x1 with someone and have your canora living elsewhere, or at least originating from somewhere else, but for the sake of this roleplay, you must fit your character into the given environment. It will be as broad as possible.
I wNanted to give these areas names in the perspective of the Canora. There are no actual regional or scientific names, the Canora have addressed these names themselves and overtime have stuck. They were chosen based on the description of each individual area. So I will go ahead and explain each area in detail.
CANORA WOODS
This is the main dwelling of canora. It is a very large, heavily-wooded area that homes the majority of all known canora, whether they are part of a pack or not. Whilst there may be some lone canora and some smaller packs living in this area, there is also the large pack here that goes back for generations, the pack in which the woods was named after. It's the biggest known canora pack. That aside, the woods also homes many other woodland creatures. Everything from mice and hedgehogs to deer and elk, providing the mighty canora more than enough food to survive on. Parts of the woods are more dense than others, those of which can have quite treacherous terrain; protruding oak roots and pot holes, making it difficult and dangerous to maneuver through, although other parts are smooth and suitable for lots of running around. There is also a large clearing near the center of the woods, one large enough to be named, which is the next thing to be explained.
*
THE CLEARING
Whilst there are several places within the woods where there is a lack of trees, there is one clearing in particular that is large enough to be noted. The clearing is the official meeting place for the canora pack. During the day, individuals may go off and do their own thing and what not, but many linger around the clearing because it is a place many go to chat, play and form relationships. It's also the official place where one can deliver announcements, warnings and orders. Canora also feel comfort to congregate there in times of stress and danger.
*
HUSHED SANDS
Named after it's quiet setting, Hushed Sands is a small shingle beach that hugs the coast of Lake Tropic. It got it's name because of the lack of wildlife that lives there. It's quite a desolate place, but it's a perfect place for canora to relax out of the shade from the trees. It's a popular sun-bathing spot, being one of the only places that completely absorbs the sun all year round. It circles the lake, but the water continues on passed Canora territory.
*
LAKE TROPIC
Lake Tropic is a large lake that the canora have claimed as their own. It gets it's name because of the constant temperature of the water. It is always warm and comfortable, and provides the perfect spot for swimming and fishing - two of canora favourite pastimes. The lake forks off into the lands, separating Canora Woods from the Crushskull Mountains. It runs straight through the grassy plains and through the trees, out onto the other side. Throughout the woods, there are plenty of small pools of the lake that have separated and come to a stop, providing easy access to drinking water no matter where the canora are in the forest.
*
CRUSHSKULL MOUNTAINS
On the other side of Lake Tropic are the Crushskull Mountains. Impossible to reach from the lake, it is required for anyone to go the long way around through the Plains of Demur if they choose to visit. It is named Crushskull due to it's hazardous terrain. It is terribly dangerous, steep and completely deceiving. Many Canora have died there over the years, so it is typically a place that present Canora choose to avoid. Pups are told to stay away from such territory and are constantly warned of it's dangers. At the very peak of the mountains, there is a vertical drop down to Lake Tropic, barely short of 300m high. There has been hardly any evidence of any living creatures situated on Crushskull Mountains due to it's inhabitable environment.
*
VALLEY OF WHISPERS
Valley of Whispers runs through Crushskull Mountains, on the outskirts of the wastelands. It is the low point between the steep floor level, said to continue deeper and deeper the further you walk. No Canora who has walked down it has ever returned, so it again is a place that most tend to avoid. It is a very quiet, still, narrow path that seems to disappear into mist if you stand at the opening.
*
PLAINS OF DEMUR
The plains are a wide-open grassland that gradually slopes upwards to the south-east and downward to the north. The grass grows long and lush, changing colours with the seasons. Flowers thrive and bloom during the spring and summer months, and the thick greenery homes small critters such as field mice and pheasants. Despite it's beautiful, calming appearance, it has been given a name that conflicts that. The Plains of Demur are associated with caution and challenge to the Canora, it being an almost direct path between safety and the wastelands. Very few canora come from the wastelands to the woods, and even fewer leave the woods to go to the wastelands. It's the midground and feels almost like a minefield. In Canora mythology, it is considered a test of survival - those who chose to cross the barrier into the wastelands must walk alone through the plains. The western side of the plains usually remains untouched, but the eastern side close to the woods is familiar territory to Canora, in particular pups who love to play in the long grass.
*
THE WASTELANDS
The wastelands leers over Canora territory. It is a ghastly, deserted wilderness - home to the outcasts and nightmare of the canora. It is a place where very few wander and none like to be. No one knows for certain what lives in the wastelands, but they've heard stories of insane, blood-thirsty cannibals just waiting in the shadows for innocent by-passers. The land stretches for miles, with uneven, dehydrated terrain and not a single green shrub in sight. It's as if life itself is afraid of growing there, as all trees dwelling in the wastelands are bare and starved, and the earth is littered with various animal carcasses. Even the sun barely catches a glimpse of the horrors lurking in the west.
